Chatur Singh 2 Star (Sanjay Dutt) is a detective and also an infamous member of the Mumbai Police Department who in his career has been most successful at botching up cases and making a fool of himself. In spite of being a disgrace to the team, Chatur Singh has just been handed the biggest case in the department's history, to catch Sonia Varma (Ameesha Patel) who was jailed as a suspect of the murder of Agriculture Minister Y.Y. Singh (Gulshan Grover) and was allowed to run free only because of Chatur's foolishness. He thinks this is the perfect chance for him to prove to everyone why he is the best officer they have. Add to this chaotic fray, Chatur's right-hand man or in this case "wrong-hand" man, Pappu Panther (Suresh Menon) who adores and worships his master Chatur, which makes him an even bigger idiot than Chatur himself.
